The country has four time zones from east to west, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. The first offices open at 06H00 local (11H00 GMT) in some East Coast states (Virginia, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire ...). On the West Coast, California voting starts at 15H00 GMT.

POLLS CLOSE: at 18h00 the first local polls closed in some eastern states. Most of Florida closes at 19H00 local (00H00 GMT) and most eastern states close at 20H00 local (01H00 GMT) or 21H00 local (0200 GMT). The West Coast closes on Wednesday at 0400 GMT.
